Glow sticks, laser pointers and grad students!
Back in the field looking for High pH sulfur and methane oxidizers at Ney’s spring! Now off to New Hampshire for the first Bioelectronics Gordon Conference–bioelectronics meets environmental microbiology.
Big month for Undergraduate Research Presentations! The Ohio Branch ASM meeting was one of the best undergrad accessible conferences I’ve been too. Students presented there and at the UC Undergraduate Scholarly Showcase.
The best North American ISMET I’ve been to to date! Brought the hole lab to celebrate microbes electric!
Off to give my first Gordon Conference Seminar in Maine at the conference on C1 metabolism!
Thanks for the invite to give a Microseminar!
Happy New Year in a new city and a new job! Rowe lab founded in 2018!
Surf Round 2! More electrocultivation underground….
SURFing South Dakota! So many sulfur oxidizers! (pictures soon)
Giving the C-DEBI neworked speaker talk this month! Tune in or check it out when you can (http://www.darkenergybiosphere.org/outputs-resources/networked-speaker-series/)
Back at SURF to set up an electrocultivation experiment (like the Catalina experiments, but a mile underground), where we have access to sulfidic ground water, electricity and the internet!
Quick trip to Denmark to meet with colleges on the Electrogas project, and then to South Dakota to the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF)! Found a cool cite for looking at sulfur oxidation in the deep subsurface…
TN-Seq here I come! Spending 10 days at University of Minnesota with Jeff and Ben to kick off our collaboration with the Marinobacter Mafia. And you know the beer will be good…
Thanks to Moh and Jan for nominating me for the WISE Postdoctoral Merit award!
Off to Japan to work with Akihiro Okamoto on our alkaliphilic electrode reducing microbe!
As of 6/2015,
Joined the NASA Astrobiology institute, Life Underground team based at USC to start looking at electron transfer in methanogens with cytochromes, still working with on polishing my electrochemical techniques!
