Research

We work in Applied and Environmental Microbiology.

In the field, we work on finding systems that have microbes with really interesting physiology and that could potentially be used for applied technologies. We study their environment, them in their environment and then try to culture them in the lab to see how they do what they do!

In the lab, we focus on trying to understand how microbes eat and breathe. We mix a range of traditional and novel approaches to understanding the who, what, when, where and why’s of a microbes physiology.
